UI Case Study: FinTech App Pricing Design

Fintech app interface displaying user payment details.

This case study outlines my design journey for a FinTech startup's app pricing interface, focusing on user-centric solutions for their unique pricing structures and business models.

Project Scope

1. A clear presentation of various pricing packages within the app.

2. Visual representation of options and the ability to toggle between monthly and annual views.

3. The ability for businesses to extend packages and include third-party information.

Laying the Groundwork: Research & Insight

I thoroughly explored the app to understand its special features. It has "Guardrails" which help protect users from overspending and also gives trading suggestions using advanced technology. Additionally, I observed that the app had a different pricing strategy, which is why I was brought onto the project.

Designing the Blueprint: User-Centric Approach

My primary focus in developing the Pricing Package Screens was to ensure intuitive navigation and clarity. By incorporating essential elements like the title, features, and vibrant visuals, I aimed to provide users with a comprehensive overview of their options.

The Level Up Screens introduced an innovative way to reward and notify users when they achieved significant financial milestones. The design emphasized a celebratory tone while also signaling a shift in their payment plan.

My exploration of the Package Change Screens was guided by the user persona, "Eva." Her journey epitomized the typical user's experience, from accessing settings to making an informed decision about updating her package.

Iterative Refinement: Client Feedback and Adaptation

Upon presenting my design prototypes, I encountered a preference pivot. The client gravitated towards a blend of my proposed options, emphasizing the need to highlight savings and make visual cues more intuitive.

Reflections & Takeaways

This project underscored the importance of harmonizing client specifications with user expectations. I successfully transformed a complex pricing model into an intuitive user experience, achieving both functionality and user engagement.
